And thank goodness, I am almost finished!!!

The cookie shop is temporarily closed...

This monday, I am sending out my biggest order yet... For De Perswinkel I am baking over 1300 cookies in over 90 boxes. That means that everything in my house is now cookie. It also means that I won't be able to take any more orders for a week. On tuesday the shop will be open again.

The return of the Random Number Generator

We have a winner! Let me show you how we picked one.

First, I wrote all names on cards and tied a piece of string to them.



Then, I took all the strings in my hand. No telling what string belongs to what card!



After that, I asked my random number generator to help me. Remember my RNG? She is in desperate need of a haircut, I know.

On october 31st it's halloween again! So finally I had a reason to buy the Wilton monsters cookie cutters... And I love them! These are going in the shop for Halloween.





In that same order, I bought some flower cookie cutters, that I was sure had ten petals. Turned out they were exactly the same set that I already had. Duh.



So, what to do with this extra set...? How about a giveaway?

Gumpaste flowers

For some time now, I have been enjoying baking. Cookies (duh), but also cupcakes and cakes. So in the spring, I started the Wilton courses for cake design. Right now I am in the gumpaste and fondant course. And loving it, I might add!

Last saturday we learned how to make gumpaste flowers. I never knew it could be so easy!!!





Roses are always the "pièce de la resistence" of fondant flower making, but we also made carnations:



And calla lillies:



I can't wait for next weeks class!

By the way, did you notice that I am miserably failing my Drawing Lab Monday? I have discovered that the book has a lot of assignments that are hard for me to do with two little ones running around. Going to the zoo, finding live models, drawing in public and such. But I found another book that might just work... More on that tomorrow.

What? Who?

Yes, I am still alive, and I am really sorry about the lack of blogposts. I have been really, really busy and stressed, in a good way. Something exciting happened!

No, I am not pregnant (I always feel I have to make that clear to everyone before making any kind of announcement). But I just got my first big order of cookies! Which means that I am now preparing for a sale of almost 90 (90!!!!) boxes with cookies!!! Ordering boxes, printing labels, replacing cartridges, printing more labels and buying ingredients and the sorts.

I do feel the need to seriously consider what I want to do with my baking, because it is rapidly turning into an actual business. It also made me think about what kind of entrepeneur (cool huh, I'm an entrepeneur!) I want to be. So in the middle of all this, I am trying to reduce the plastic I use in packing my cookies and replacing it with paper. Using organic ingredients. Mjammie is going green!!!
