New paper, new projects, new look!!!

As you might have guessed, dear reader (one follower so far!! Yay!), I do not get a warm and fuzzy feeling for store bought and ready made items. The same goes for my blog, I planned to do my "extreme-makeover: the Blog edition" even with my very first message, but hey, with two small kids it's a miracle I even get to blogging at all!!! Never mind making books and stuff!

Anyway, I thougt it would be time to add a personal touch. Not the personal touch of mr Josh Peterson, who apparently designed all the standard blog skins. I tried to do the same for my Etsy shop, but I'm not sure about the colors. And while I was at it, I made some Thank You cards for the people who buy something. If you want a sneek peak at those, you need to spend some money. ;-)

Anywho, this afternoon I am taking the kids out to see their uncle, so no crafting today... I feel so empty inside...

(could also be due to skipping breakfast)

If you read this (small chance, but I keep on wishing) let me know which banner you like best: black and white or color...

New paper, new projects

As always, a trip to the craftstore is enough to put me in a frenzy!!! All those gorgeous coulours and textures... So I started to make a couple of new books as soon as I got up this morning. And I started the embroidery on a new cover, with my own little bird design. To give you an impression what a book looks like before it's an actual book...

The leftovers from the pages... Any suggestions what I can do with those?

The Geninne book will be on its way to Mexico tomorrow...

A trip to the craftstore

Today no pictures... I know, a blog with pictures is way more fun, but today I didn't have time to make anything new. Yet. But it's not like I sat at home, staring out the window (as if I would have time for that, with my 2-year old running around... As we speak, she is trying to dive off the sofa, even though I mentioned that the landing might hurt). We went to the craft store! I made some cute little books yesterday, using different kinds of paper and double sided cardstock, and I decided that I would make a couple as a kind of diary, so I can write a small message when they say or do something funny or remarkable. And then I went shopping for new paper and cardstock, because I thought it would be fun to use a different one every time.

Also, I am working on a photo album for my kids. I plan to use it only for birthday pictures, one page per year. I haven't decided on how to make the cover yet. Maybe I'll ask for your help tomorrow and make a few samples...

OK then, a picture of what I made yesterday... I know, I can't help myself...

The Birdie book

As you may have guessed, dear reader (so far, I know there is only one...), I could not wait until tomorrow to show you my Geninne sketchbook... It is finished but it needs to spend another night in the bookpress, so it can dry.

OMG!!!

Still shaking with excitement... I made my first Etsy sale!!! It was actually a little book that I made to send to a Dutch magazine, hoping that they would mention me on their blog... But this is way more fun! I will just make another one for the magazine...

It's this one:

Oh yes, I could not help myself and I made some more books yesterday... I have so many ideas in my head that it just hurts!

A small update on the Geninne book... The embroidery is finished!!! The interior is also finished, so I should be able to show you the finished book tomorrow or the day after...

Inspiration

Since I figured out how to make a decent book, I have not been able to think about anything else... Since I am also addicted to cute and retro fabrics, I have lots of books to make! Sometimes (about twice a day ;-) ) I see a fabric that I want, no NEED to have, and I buy a decent piece, I start hogging it just because it would be a shame to use it... Now I know what to do with them!

Last week I made a book that I absolutely adored, and I put it on Etsy, and since then I had over ninety views and even six hearts on it. But no sales!!! In this case, I would not mind to use it as my own journal... But I have so many ideas in my head that it hurts...

Anyway, this is the book that I am most proud of (so far). Hope you love it too!!!

On Geninnes Art Blog I found a free embroidery pattern... I love her stuff so much that I am going to use that on a sketch paper notebook, and see if I can send it to her as a gift... Let's see...

I love books...

Did you ever wonder how they make those gorgeous handmade notebooks? I always wanted to learn how to do that. So I looked it up (Oh how I love the internet!) and I tried to do it myself... And see here the result of my efforts!!! My very first books!!! All from scratch!!!
