The easiest apple pie EVER!!!

Today I made the fastest apple pie EVER!!! It tasted so good and it was ready before you could say “Yummy, apple pie!” so I really had to share this “recipe” with you. And since they are expecting the first autumn storm this afternoon, what better way to spend some time cuddled up on the couch with a piece of freshly baked apple pie!!!

If you live in The Netherlands it can be really, really easy. You go to the supermarket and you buy:
a box of Koopmans Mix voor Appelkruimeltaart
a jar of apple sauce (appelmoes)
one egg
a bottle of liquid margarine

Throw the mix in with 100 grams of the margarine and the egg and stir well, with a spoon (or even better, with the mixer). Put 2/3 of the crumbles you get into the baking pan, distribute evenly and press with a spoon to get a cookie dough-like layer, this will be the bottom of the cake (obviously). Open the jar of apple sauce (I used “machtige moes” by Gijs from Plus) and pour it over the bottom. Loosely throw the rest of the crumbles on top. Put it just below the middle of the pre heated oven on 180 degrees C for 45 minutes. Let it cool down just a little before you take it out of the baking tin, and eat it when it’s still warm, preferably with a spoon of fresh whipped cream. Yummy!!!

If you don’t live in the Netherlands, it can still be really easy and really fast. In that case, you make the mix yourself with 225 grams of flour, 90 grams of sugar, 100 grams of butter and one egg. The instructions stay the same!!!
And instead of the apple sauce, you could take 5 nice and sour apples and cut them up, boil them to a nice sauce with a bit of water (20 cc should do), two spoonfuls of sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon.

Don’t go for the cheapest apple sauce, by the way. If it is too watery, the bottom of the cake will not have that nice crunch.

Hmmm…. When I write it down like this, I wonder why the hell I pay so much for the mix…

Have a good one!

Little red riding hood

Yesterday I told you that my little girl wants to be LRRH (Little red riding hood). I wanted to give you all a great gift idea in the fairy tale category!!!

Some time ago I bought a pop-up book called (oh yes) Little Red Riding Hood. It is the most gorgeous book EVER!!! I put it away for adult use only, because it's really, really delicate and the picture of the big bad wolf pops up so much that I think it would scare my little LRRH-wannabe.

Anyway, I wanted to share some pics from the book with you, because it was so beautifully made, and everyone should have it! Feast your eyes on this!

Experiment without inspiration

Sometimes I just feel like making something, but I don't really know what. In that case I usually resort to butterflies and flowers. After reading some blogs about paper art, I wanted to try that myself. This is what I made. I think I'll start with fairy tale pictures next, my baby girl loves fairy tales! She wants to be little red riding hood when she grows up... Guess what my next project will be? ;-)

Another busy weekend...

Despite the weather, I actually got some things done today! I haven't been as crafty as I would like, but today was different. I finished some books that I had laying around and I started another experiment. Yesterday I got the paper that I ordered last week so I had no reason to be bored! These are the books that I made today...

Making the pictures was quite a problem, I had a road-rage baby that was interfering... :-D

At the end of the day, the sun came out... For a full two minutes!

Hope to see you tomorrow, for an update of the latest experiment!

Phew!

When I started this drawing, I didn't realize how much work it would be! I worked on it for three days and it's finally finished! It's not all that I expected, but I still think it's kinda cute. Tomorrow I will probably make some more prints. I'm even thinking to put it on Etsy for free (except shipping costs)... See if anyone is interested! I'll post the link and a scan of the finished drawing tomorrow, I think it's in the best interest of my scanner to let the ink dry first...

What? Who?

Did you notice? It's not hard to see what blog this is!!! I used the birdie and the leaves and branch I showed you yesterday to make different birdies and a tree branch for the birds to sit on. I'm still not satisfied, but I think it looks better than the previous one! What do you think?

And yet, I still had time to start a new drawing. This time I am experimenting with indian ink and colour pencil on drawing paper. It's hard to find a subject without drawing the same thing over and over, so instead of birds and trees I chose flowers. It's far from finished, and the lighting sucks again (we had a really dark day today, no sun, only clouds and rain) so I hope I can show you more tomorrow.
