A friend for Otis

There is one swap that I am feeling bad about. It's a "make something for my ..." swap. Your swap partner decides on something that you should make something for. Complicated, huh! Just wait! My swap partner was a Vintage scooter from 1974!!!! his name is Otis and he needed a friend.

I have started so many things for Otis. I made him half a garland, for his handlebars. I made him half a bag for extra tools (we have experience with vintage motorcycles and believe me, extra tools are not a luxury!). I made him half a flower for his handlebars. In fact, I made him about seven half items. But I was never satisfied with the result, so I kept starting over. Until I was flipping through one of my craftbooks. And suddenly I knew!!!

I made Otis a little friend. Her name is Youkou, which is supposed to mean Sunshine (but the translator I used also gave "Sunshain" as a translation option, so I can't say anything about the accuracy of the translation website I used). In Kokeshi dolls, it is tradition (apparently) to give the doll a name that is also what you wish for the person you are giving it to.

So, Otis, dear friend, I hope you will have many rides in the sunshine. Enjoy your company!!!

Dutch Swappers Advent Calendar snowflakes and giveaway!

This one is in dutch, sorry for all my English readers! But I am sure you will get the point!

The finished apple swap package

The package was sent, received and appreciated! I am so glad! This is how it turned out:

This is the back.

And this is the front. I designed the apple myself. I am proud of me. ;-)

By the way, did you notice that I am miserably failing my Drawing Lab Monday? I have discovered that the book has a lot of assignments that are hard for me to do with two little ones running around. Going to the zoo, finding live models, drawing in public and such. But I found another book that might just work... More on that tomorrow.

An apple for the teacher

Sone time ago, I initiated a swap, where you would make your swap partner something really nice, based on their profile. I got assigned to a teacher. No surprise that I picked an apple theme.

Translation: an apple for the teacher. I made it into a pencil case. I hope she likes it.

Little red Swap-Bot riding hood

Usually I really like the swap bot goodies that come my way, but this one, this one I LOVED!!! Just seeing the envelope made my day... I have taken the liberty to remove my address from the picture though...

How cute is that!!!! And the contents were just as cool!!!

I love the handmade stickers and the doll, and the pictures, and everything! You know who else loved it?

So if you were still not sure how much fun Swap bot can be, and if you should join, but maybe this will convince you!!!

Another doily swap

Another Doily swap, this time an international one! The assignment was to crochet a doily and a flower and send them, together with a pattern, to your swap partner. So these are going across the ocean!

The doilies that will be made next are probably all kinds of exotic colors. I decided to use up my yarn stash befor buying anything new...

Stacked

Guess what this is...

It's one day of Mjammie cookies going in the mail tomorrow!!! So far, I have had at least one order a day, thank you all for that!!! And I am really glad that you like them!

And in the middle of mixing, rolling, baking, cooling, icing and packing, I have found the time to work on my swaps. I have to make something for someone who loves the eighties, so what could I make? How about a cross stitched eighties icon!!!

It's not finished yet, it will be a zippered pouch, and I will probably finish it tomorrow and send it out. I hope she loves it, I spent quite some time on it. I could not find black aida fabric, so I decided to hand dye white fabric. And then cross stitched all the aliens on.

Anyway, I rediscovered my first computer games. Anyone in for a game of space invaders?

Swap-bot amigurumi

Last week I discovered Swap-bot. It's a community of crafters that swap handmade or vintage things or collectibles. I have sent and received my first swap, and next up is an amigurumi swap. So I took out my crochet hook and my coloured cotton and I went to work. And some time later, I had this.

I found out that my Swap partner lives in Canada. So I decided to make something that would fit in a flat envelope.

just made this picture with my PhotoPal for iPad

It's easy, it's cute, and it doubles as a completely useless thing...

A pencil cover! *lol*

Oh well, it's cute anyway.

For amigurumi fans, I will make a new section in my Etsy shop where you can buy all the crochet patterns in .pdf format.

Can't wait to hear what my swap partner will say about it!
